Solar Technology and District Cooling System in a Hot Climate Regions: Optimal Configuration and Technology Selection

With the increasing need for cooling and concerns pollution due to fossil fuel-based energy use, renewable is considered an add-on technologies. The climatic condition in Middle East, analyzed this paper, provides potential integrate solar with system. Due availability of various technologies, multiple configurations solar-cooling systems can be satisfy demand. research presented paper aims assess compare these by considering prices installation area. proposed model formulated Mixed-Integer Linear Programming optimizes holistic system design operation. economic, environmental performances optimal solution each configuration are compared base grid-DCS configuration. Results show that electricity tariff available area impact economic competitiveness integration. When subsided (low), conventional grid-based DCS most competitive. PV-DCS economically competitive among assisted systems, it contribute reducing 58.3%. PVT-DCS has lowest operation cost highest performance decreasing global warming 89.5%. T-DCS becomes only at high tariffs.
